The Eaton Fire District is located in the rolling hills of the heart of Central New York State. It is comprised of the hamlets of Eaton & West Eaton & many miles of farmland surrounding the hamlets. It is One District made up of two individual, but intertwined clubs or departments. Fire Officers are members of one or the other clubs and are elected annually by members of both clubs at a jointly held Annual meeting, which is overseen by the commissioners of the district. Commissioners are Elected to office by the Residents of the Fire district and serve terms of five years, there is an election each December to re-elect or replace a commissioner .
Although we are a rural district, we have modern and even state of the art equiptment, including a compressed air foam system (CAF) which allows us to put out large fires with MUCH LESS water than convential pumpers use. A new Rescue truck with all the most needed equiptment for any situation that arises. A Mini Pumper with all wheel drive that can get to areas that the Larger trucks can't reach.. Another Class One Pumper for attack that also has Tanker capabilities, if needed. And a modern equipped Ambulance with advanced life support .And recently added a Rescue Boat that responds to water rescue & recovery.
Our District offers persons trained in Firefighting, Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, and Diving . All members,Officers, and commissioners serve without pay.
